Novus opens second Tank & Paddle restaurant

Bar and nightclub giant Novus has opened a second Tank & Paddle site in the City of London following the success of its inaugural Mincing Lane location, which opened last November.

The concept is focused on craft beer, some of which is served fresh from large tanks, and pizza, which arrives on wooden paddles.

On Bishopsgate, the 3,500 square feet has undergone a £250,000 refurbishment and now seats 120 covers. The site is one of three acquired from 3Sixty Restaurants.

Tank & Paddle will make its West End debut in October in an as yet undisclosed location. Novus CEO Toby Smith says he’s keen to continue with the rollout but hadn’t decided on site numbers.

The expansion of Tank & Paddle sees the late-night focused business move further into the restaurant sector.

The Mincing Lane site has seen sales grow by over 30% since opening. As a result, the venue is currently undergoing an extension to accommodate a further 90 covers, together with an additional bar to meet the high demand.

“We have successfully spread our love of craft beer and everything it stands for, with 3,000 Instagram followers now talking our ‘tanktastic’ language,” says Smith. “We therefore look forward to amplifying this triumph by extending our craft culture to Bishopsgate and beyond.”
