New La Fromagerie site to launch next month

La Fromagerie has confirmed that its third site, in 52 Lambs Conduit Street, will open early next month (11 September).

The cheese shop and restaurant will be divided over two floors, occupying a prime corner location on the prominent Bloomsbury street. The ground level will feature a shop selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, breads, cakes, and own label products, alongside a cheese room, a 26-cover bar and a pavement dining area.

Located under a glass-covered courtyard, the downstairs the tasting room will be available for private hire and tutored tasting events. Tableware, glass and linens will also be available, alongside special one-off pieces sourced from antique markets.

La Fromagerie Bloomsbury will serve food all day, starting with a breakfast menu. During the afternoon and evening, the menu will showcase the produce sold in the shop. There will also be charcuterie, fondue and a smoked salmon and oyster bar.

During renovation of the site, late Georgian architectural features were uncovered. The building’s heritage will be accentuated in the design, with a long, brass accented marble top bar, wooden panelling, antique light fittings and dark green velvet banquettes.

“We’ve been looking for a long time for a place that felt right for us,” says La Fromagerie director Sarah Bilney. “In Lambs Conduit Street, we have found a warm sense of community with a wonderful mix of shops and restaurants, alongside local businesses and residential. We’ve been made to feel so welcome already by the locals, we can’t wait to open.”

La Fromagerie was founded by Patricia Michelson in 1991. It launched its first site in Highbury in 1992. In 2002, its Marylebone shop and cafe opened in Moxon Street. The wholesale side of the business supplies some of the best restaurants in the UK including the River Café, Noble Rot and The Ledbury.
