Mamarosa Shoreditch follows the success of Mamarosa Beach, located below Barcelona’s 5-star W Hotel since 2011, which is also owned by Dotel Clear Group. The UK launch of the brand is set for 2018.
The two-storey, 1,950sq ft restaurant will sit alongside eight luxury apartments, three retail units and a 216-room CitizenM hotel. It will serve Italian/Mediterranean fusion food with a menu that includes signature dishes such as tuna tartar with avocado cream and passion fruit; milanesa of chicken; and Black Angus loin, alongside a selection of pizzas.
Dotel is currently recruiting for a head chef.
Mamarosa owner Francesco Labriola has hinted at a long-term future expansion plan, saying that the original venue, a favourite among celebrities, has been an “incredible success” which the Dotel group is keen to replicate.
“Our long-term development plan is to expand in locations with real character, and Shoreditch Village appealed to us as a visionary project within London’s creative hub,” he says.
Craig Fisher, managing director of CF Commercial and acting on behalf of Shoreditch Village on the letting describes the opening as “incredibly exciting” for the location.
“Having a top-tier restaurant alongside independent businesses, a pop-up market and new public realm will see Shoreditch Village emerge as a leading destination within one of London’s coolest neighbourhoods,” he says.
