New World Trading Company to launch The Canal House in Birmingham

The New World Trading Company (NWTC) is set to launch a new pub brand next month inspired by the famous engineer James Brindley

"Exclusive" to its late namesake’s home city of Birmingham, The Canal House will be located on Brindley Place at the former James Brindley pub on Bridge Street.

Like NWTC's successful The Botanist brand, The Canal House will offer a large range of world beers including Budvar’s ‘brewery fresh’ tank beer Tankové Pivo. The two floor space will also house a ‘secret’ gin distillery at the back of the first floor bar.

The Canal House will serve pub food with a focus on rotisserie-cooked and grilled meats. There will also be a lighter deli-style offering available.

“Following the success of The Botanist, we’re really excited to launch The Canal House in Birmingham this August,” says general manager Liam Carney (pictured). “Birmingham is a great city with lots of ambition and passion. By delving into the rich history and heritage of this amazing location, we’ve created a fantastic concept that we are confident locals will enjoy the story of.”

The Canal House is the sixth brand in NWTC’s portfolio. The north-centric group currently operates 17 sites in total of which 13 are run under its The Botanist brand. Other brands include The Club House at Liverpool One, The Oast House in Manchester, The Smugglers Cove in Liverpool and London’s The Trading House.
