Affinity Group's Dickie Fitz and Princess Victoria close their doors
Dickie Fitz opened last year in Fitzrovia on the site that was formerly Newman Street Tavern and is believed to have closed abruptly on Friday (June 30).
Affinity Group’s pub Princess Victoria in Shepherd’s Bush also closed on Friday (June 30) with its Twitter account reporting that it had been shut down.
On Friday it posted the message on Twitter: “Unfortunately we have been closed down as of 7am this morning and are not open anymore for the foreseeable future.” A further tweet said: “Our entire company has shut down. 80 staff across 3 venues have lost jobs."
A longer post on the pub’s Facebook page added: “As of today we are unfortunately closed, out of the blue, no one was expecting it but all of our sites across affinity bars and restaurants have been shut down as of 7am this morning.”
The Shepherd’s Bush pub was awarded London County Dining Pub of the Year in Good Pub Guide 2016.
The websites for Dickie Fitz and Princess Victoria are currently down, as is the site for Affinity’s other gastropub The Lady Ottoline, in Bloomsbury. Affinity Group also owned The Henry Root pub in Chelsea, which is also now closed. Affinity Group’s website is no longer working.
BigHospitality has been unable to contact the company for further comment.
