Sethi siblings to open second Hoppers in London

Hoppers, the Sri Lankan restaurant which holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, is to open a second London site later this year.

The larger Marylebone restaurant will seat 96-covers across a two-storey dining room and outside terrace when it opens this autumn.

Unlike the original Soho site the new Hoppers will take reservations for lunch and dinner and offer a broader range of dishes alongside its namesake pancakes.

New menu items include tuna and tapioca cutlets with avocado sambol; and sharing plates of claypot baby chicken kukul maas; and black pork ribs with fennel and turmeric sambol.

The launch follows the success of the original Hoppers, which was opened by the Sethi siblings’ JKS Restaurant group in 2015.

The trio are the brains behind London’s Michelin-starred Indian restaurants Gymkhana and Trishna, and are also backing Sabor, the debut restaurant from Nieves Barragan Mohacho.

“Following the success of the first Hoppers in Soho back in 2015, an increase in travel to Sri Lanka and subsequently the popularity of the country’s food and culture in the capital, opening a second, larger Hoppers site seemed like a natural step,” says Karam Sethi.

“We’re thrilled to expose even more Londoners to the bold flavours of Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu.”

Hoppers will open at 77 Wigmore Street, London.
