Restaurant Eats Out: Behind The Scenes – Neil Rankin, Temper

In the fourth and final Behind The Scenes video in our Restaurant Eats Out Taco Tour series – which also saw us visit taco sites Wahaca, Breddos and El Pastor ‒ we caught up with Neil Rankin at Temper in Soho.

He talks the rising popularity of tacos, why he wouldn’t call his style of food or restaurant ‘Mexican’ despite serving authentic tortillas, and how he makes the nixtamalization process work for his fast-paced site, which produces upwards of 2,000 tortillas and tacos a day…

Temper opened in summer 2016 and is well known for its charcoal BBQ meat, building on Rankin’s previous work at other barbecue icons, Pitt Cue Co and the Smokehouse pubs in Islington and Chiswick.

The group recently announced plans for a second Temper, set for Angel Court in the City later this year.
