M Restaurants to open M Bar & Grill in Twickenham

M Restaurants is to launch the debut site of its M Bar & Grill brand in Twickenham after raising £1.8m through a crowdfunding campaign.

The 150-cover restaurant will be a more casual version of the group’s steak and wine concept, offering a modern British menu with wine by the tap.

It will open its doors in the Brewery Wharf development, a short walk from the famous Twickenham Stadium, in July.

The group claims M Bar & Grill will be the first UK restaurant to offer 100% full-blooded Highland Wagyu beef, instead of the cross-bred variety found on other UK menus.

M Restaurants founder Martin Williams created the new concept in partnership with his executive chef Michael Reid following the Brexit vote last June.

Its opening date was pushed forwards after the group raised £1.8m through a crowdfunding campaign at the end of last year.

“I first started to develop the idea after the referendum result,” says Williams.

“It became evident that more and more people would be looking to stay local at the weekends rather than travel into London. Twickenham residents and local businesses will thus be able to enjoy the M experience but without a lengthy commute.”

M Restaurants opened its first site in London’s Threadneedle Street in 2014, and launched a second restaurant in Victoria in 2015.
