The chef has submitted a planning application to South Derbyshire District Council to convert disused buildings at Hardley Hill Farm, near Sutton on the Hill, in to a ‘farm-to-table’ restaurant.
The 45-cover site will open from Thursday evening to Sunday lunchtime and employ up to 15 staff.
In the planning documents the concept is described as ‘an evocative and beautiful restaurant focused entirely on the experience of the guest where all the ingredients come from the surrounding farms and local producers’.
The Hardley Hill Farm buildings have been out of use for around 10 years and are owned by the Trusley Estate in Derbyshire
Britt began his career as an apprentice at the Ritz Hotel in London, where he spent seven years working his way up to the role of sous chef.
He reached the final of the 2014 series of MasterChef: The Professionals, but lost out on the title to winner Jamie Scott.
The chef joins a growing number of MasterChef alumni launching their own restaurants. Steven Edwards, winner of the 2013 Professionals series, will open Etch in Hove on 24 March, while 2011 runner-up Tom Simmons is launching an eponymous restaurant in London Bridge.
A final decision on Britt's planning application is expected in April.
