Chef Jérôme Henry to open Edinburgh restaurant
Le Roi Fou, meaning ‘The Mad King’, will offer ‘relaxed fine dining’ with modern European dishes influenced by Henry’s French roots.
Fresh Scottish produce will be used to create daily prix fixe, a la carte, vegetarian, weekend brunch and tasting menus.
The chef has teamed up with creative director Isolde Nash to open the restaurant, which will have around 30 covers and feature a 16-cover private dining room.
Le Roi Fou will open for dinner Wednesday and Thursday, lunch and dinner Friday and Saturday, and for lunch on Sunday.
“Le Roi Fou is a neighbourhood restaurant, which we hope will also have a sense of ‘home’ for people living and working nearby and in the arts,” says Nash.
“I always loved the European tradition of bars and restaurants where artists and writers hang out. Edinburgh has a genuine love for the written and spoken word, so we’re looking forward to seeing how the restaurant develops.”
French-born Henry was head chef at Les Trois Garcons in Shoreditch for five years, before he left to cook at Anton Mosimann’s private dining club in Belgravia for seven years until 2016.
Les Trois Garcons closed in 2015 after being open for 15 years.
