Dabbous to close as owners plan major new project

Michelin-starred Fitzrovia restaurant Dabbous is to close as owners Ollie Dabbous and Oskar Kinberg begin work on a major new project for late 2017/early 2018.

The new opening ‒ which Ollie Dabbous describes as “a phenomenal site” ‒ is expected to have a completely different identity to the existing restaurant, but will involve the entire current team as well as new members of staff.

Further details of the new project will be announced later in 2017, or early 2018.

Dabbous will remain open until details of the new venture have been finalised. It is accepting reservations until the end of June.

"We have been offered an amazing opportunity that enables all of us to grow and evolve,” says Dabbous. “Naturally, we are sad to be closing Dabbous, but at the same time we are all very much looking forward to the next chapter. It’s a phenomenal site and we can’t wait to get started.

“In the meantime, I will savour my remaining months cooking in my current kitchen and making our guests happy."

As of today, the lease to Dabbous is on the commercial property market, under Rob Meadows at Davis Coffer Lyons.

Dabbous opened just over five years ago on London’s Whitfield Street, with Kinberg running the basement Oskar’s Bar. It won a Michelin star just eight months after opening.

Dabbous also runs the more casual Barnyard, also in Fitzrovia, which opened in 2014.

Late last year he announced he was planning a new venture with the team behind Experimental Cocktail Club – an 80-cover restaurant named Henrietta at the soon-to-open Henrietta Hotel - with the opening slated for next month.
