Fanny’s Posh Kebabs set for Shoreditch debut

Fanny’s Posh Kebabs, the fledgling concept that crowdfunded £150,000 in just 17 minutes last year, is eyeing Shoreditch for its first permanent site.

Fanny’s was founded by Claude Compton, the former Petersham Nurseries chef behind Amuse Bouche champagne bar and Claude’s Kitchen restaurant in Fulham, and James Morris of Peppermint Events, along with former Red Bull executive Jacek Bilinski. The trio also run The Tommy Tucker pub in Fulham.

The site will have an Australian beach shack look and delivery will play a big part of its offer, according to Bilinski. Kebabs will be priced between £7 and £8.50.

“There is a huge potential to reshape what people think a kebab is,” Bilinski told BigHospitality’s sister title MCA. “There are a few people doing interesting things in that field at the moment but we think we can be the ones to do that on a serious scale.”

Fanny’s will join a number of premium kebab places that have opened in the capital in recent years. These include former head chef at St John Bread and Wine Lee Tiernan’s Black Axe Mangal in Islington and Le Bab in Soho’s Kingly Court, which opened early last year.

In March Fanny’s is doing a pop-up at The Sun & 13 Cantons pub in London’s Soho, running for the entire month. It will trade for lunch Tuesday to Saturday and for dinner Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The ultimate goal for Fanny’s Posh Kebabs is to roll out across London and the UK, with a second site planned within the first year.
