More than 100 of the city’s restaurants have signed up to the UberEATS app, including Barburrito, Bundobust, and The Alchemist.
Manchester is only the second UK city to welcome the service following its launch in London last year.
Restaurants can sign up to the app for free, but are charged a fee calculated as a percentage of each order.
“Manchester’s culinary scene is thriving at the moment,” says Mathieu Proust, Manchester’s general manager at UberEATS.
“With UberEATS, Mancunian foodies can enjoy dishes from eateries that wouldn’t normally deliver, allowing them to relish in restaurant-worthy food in the comfort of their own homes.”
Expanding company
Diners will be able to order online or through the UberEATS app seven days a week from 11am-11pm, before watching their food arrive in real-time via a live map.
The service, which uses a network of couriers on bicycles and mopeds, will initially only be available in central Manchester but plans to expand its reach across the city in the coming months.
A representative for UberEATS told BigHospitality the company was hoping to expand to other cities but didn’t want to ‘ruin the surprise’ by revealing the exact locations.
UberEATS was launched as an offshoot of car-sharing app Uber in the United States in 2014, and has since expanded worldwide.
