Beatles-themed Penny Lane Hotel near McCartney’s childhood home for sale

The Penny Lane Hotel, a Beatles-themed Liverpool hotel minutes away from the childhood homes of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, is for sale for £950,000.

The 17-bedroom property is in the city’s Mossley Hill area, and claims to be just 15 minutes away from the famous Cavern Club, often hailed as the ‘birthplace’ of the iconic 60s band The Beatles.

The hotel – named for the 1967 song, and “there beneath the blue suburban skies” (we assume) ‒ is also close to The Beatles Story museum, and is decorated with Beatles artwork, band memorabilia, and décor influenced by the styles of the 60s and 70s.

The venue is also near the routes favoured by Beatles tours operating around the city, many of which take in the Penny Lane area thanks to its famous connections – including the barber’s song referenced in the lyrics.

The freehold sale is being brought to the market by business property adviser, Christie + Co.

Ryan Lynn, associate director at Christie + Co, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for a buyer to not only get involved in a hotel, which is continuing to grow on a yearly basis, but to also be a part of the history of The Beatles by playing homage to their memory.

“An experienced operator could capitalise on the unique location of The Penny Lane Hotel and build on the current business to drive profitability forward.”

Unsurprisingly, Beatles hotels are not uncommon in Liverpool, most notably the luxury 110-bedroom Hard Days Night Hotel in the city centre, which was bought by the Millennium Hotels and Resorts group in 2015.
