Berber & Q creates Shake Shack burger for Canary Wharf opening

East London grill house Berber & Q has collaborated with Shake Shack to create a limited-edition burger to celebrate the opening of its latest site in Canary Wharf.

Three hundred of the limited edition burgers will be served on Thursday (12 January) when the new site - Shake Shack's fifth in London - opens for business in the Park Pavilion in Canada Square.

The ShackBerber burger has been created by head chef and co-founder of Berber & Q, Josh Katz and Shake Shack’s culinary director Mark Rosati and will feature Shake Shack’s custom-blend Angus beef patty topped with Berber & Q hand pulled lamb shawarma, whipped feta, cherry peppers & Harissa ShackSauce.

Half of the proceeds from the sale of the £5 burger will go to Action Against Hunger.

Rosati said: “We cannot wait to bring Shake Shack to Canary Wharf, the beating heart of London’s financial world.

“We are excited to be opening the doors to a new Shack in yet another iconic part of London, and thrilled to be teaming up with our friends at Berber & Q to mark the occasion.”

The Shake Shack Canary Wharf menu will feature the brand's usual UK food menu such as the ShackBurger, SmokeShack and Shack-cago Dog.

The new restaurant will also offer an extended craft beer and wine list, including hand-picked local beers London Lager from Meantime Brewing Company and London Pilsner from Portobello Brewing Company. Estrella Galicia, Yeastie Boys Gunnamatta and Howling Hops Pils, brewed in Hackney, will also be on the menu.

Katz's collaboration with Shake Shack follows its tradition of working with named chefs outside the business. Previous collaborations in the UK include Osteria Francescana chef-patron Massimo Bottura and Sat Bains.
