D&D to open second Bluebird at Television Centre
The group has signed an agreement with developers Stanhope to open a 5,000 sq.ft venue complete with a café, bar, deli and outdoor terrace later this year.
D&D chairman Des Gunewardena said the company had received 'countless' approaches to open more Bluebird's over the years but had always turned them down.
He added that the success of the recently re-launched Bluebird Chelsea had inspired the group to begin to expand.
"We think the exciting new development of Television Centre in White City is a great location to start what I hope will become a significant expansion of Bluebird Cafes in the next few years," said Gunewardena.
The original Bluebird restaurant opened 20 years ago at the former home of the Bluebird Motor Company in Chelsea.
It closed for a six-week refurbishment last year before re-launching with a new design and menu.
Television centre, which was the headquarters of the BBC until 2013, will re-open to the public this winter following an £8bn development to transform it in to flats, offices, restaurants and a cinema.
