Manorview Hotels buys ninth site

Manorview Hotels and Leisure Group has bought its ninth property, The Star & Garter in West Lothian.

The three-storey Georgian mansion was built in the town of Linlithgow more than 250 years ago, before it was devastated by a fire in 2010.

It lay derelict for more than two years before being restored by local businessmen Ross Wilkie and David Kennedy, reopening in 2013.

Now Wilkie and Kennedy have agreed to sell the business to Manorview to allow the boutique group to develop the site ‘to its full potential’.

The five-bedroom property also features a bar, restaurant, function room and coffee shop.

Manorview said any changes to the site would be ‘carefully considered’, but it was planning a six-figure refurbishment of the restaurant and bar in Spring 2017.

Fallon Cowley, group operations director at Manorview, said: “This is an exciting acquisition for us. The Star & Garter occupies an excellent central location in the historical town of Linlithgow and has a fascinating background. It’s a much-loved hub of the town and we’re looking forward to becoming part of the community.”

Manorview was founded by Steve Graham in 2007 and has remained a family business.

It currently runs eight boutique hotels across central Scotland including Cornhill Castle in Biggar and Bowfield Hotel & Country Club in Howwood.
