Former Joël Robuchon chef to open Bōkan at Novotel Canary Wharf
Bōkan, a new restaurant and roof terrace from Aurelie Altemaire, former head chef at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, is to open at the 313-bedroom Novotel Canary Wharf hotel in January.

Located on the 37th, 38th and 39th floors, the 65-cover site will focus on modern European dishes made with British ingredients, including dishes such as line-caught cod with potted Morecambe Bay shrimp butter, and winter roots hot pot with grilled Ragstone goat’s cheese crottin.

There will also be sharing plates of charcuterie and cheese, with desserts such as Cox apple and walnut crumble with custard, and Baked Alaska.

A bottomless brunch will be available on Sundays. Average spend across the week will be £15 for breakfast, £30 for lunch, and £50 for dinner.

The 110-cover bar will also serve food, including homemade crisps and Biltong, as well as burgers, sandwiches, and artisan-style pizza.

The interior decor is from designers Mystery, and has been inspired by the restaurant’s name ‒which means lighthouse ‒ and the nearby Docklands area, including rusted copper metalwork, speckled panelling, exposed wooden floors, and leather and fabric-backed chairs, plus corner sofas on the terrace.

Inge Van Ooteghem, senior vice president for Upscale and Midscale at AccorHotels UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of Bōkan. With a stellar restaurant and bar team situated in a prime London location, Bōkan is set to become a destination restaurant, bar and terrace with stunning views of the capital.”

The Novotel Canary Wharf is owned by AccorHotels, and will be the 34th Novotel in the group’s portfolio when it officially opens in February. Globally, there are over 470 Novotels in 61 countries.

AccorHotel’s umbrella of brands also includes Sofitel, Raffles, Fairmont, Ibis, Grand Mercure, and Swissôtel.
