Claude Bosi at Bibendum in South Kensington confirmed for spring 2017

French chef Claude Bosi is to take over South Kensington restaurant Bibendum, it has been confirmed.

The chef, who once held two Michelin-stars for his now-closed restaurant Hibiscus (which lost the stars on Monday due to the site’s closure) will open the new venture, named Claude Bosi at Bibendum, in spring 2017.

The site at Michelin House, 81 Fulham Road, will undergo a full refurbishment after closing in January 2017, ahead of its re-opening in spring.

Seafood will be served at the ground floor restaurant – which will be open seven days’ a week ‒, alongside a cocktail bar, and a high-end dining room on the first floor that will open from Wednesday to Sunday.

The historic restaurant site, which was originally HQ for Michelin in 1911, first became a restaurant in the mid-1980s, and was bought by Sir Terence Conran at the late Lord Paul Hamlyn, becoming known as one of London’s top restaurants with some of the city’s most promising chefs.

Bosi is equal shareholder of the business, with Conran and Michael Hamyln.

Bosi said: “This is an extremely exciting adventure for me. After 20 years of living and working in the UK, I’m looking forward to cooking my style of food in such an iconic building and putting my name above the door.”

Hibiscus first opened in Ludlow 16 years ago before relocating to London in 2007. It closed on 1 October.
