Stuart Bowery appointed chairman of the Master Innholders

Stuart Bowery, general manager at Grosvenor House, has been named as the new chairman of the Master Innholders.

He will replace Jonathan Raggett, managing director of Red Carnation Hotels, in the post.

Bowery was appointed general manager of Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel, in May 2011 and has spent most of his career within the Marriott International brand.

The hotelier, who joined the Master Innholders in 2007, said he was 'honored' to take up his new role.

"My focus for the next two years is to work with the Executive Committee to promote and grow the Master Innholders membership with hoteliers who actively give back to the industry and deliver excellence on all levels," said Bowery.

The Master Innholders set professional standards in hotel management and candidates have to undergo a rigorous interview in order to join the elite group.

Bowery’s appointment comes ahead of the 40th anniversary of the group’s formation in 2018.

Legacy

Over the past two years Raggett has worked to champion the Master Innholders Aspiring Leaders Diploma and Scholarships, which support the career progression of professionals within the hospitality industry.

“It’s been a great honour and privilege to be chairman, especially during the 500th anniversary of the Worshipful Company celebrations," said Raggett.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to the Executive Committee for their support, commitment and passion during my term. I look forward to supporting our new chairman in a similar way.”

The Master Innholders will be exhibiting at the Independent Hotel Show in October and hosting its General Managers’ Conference on 16-17 January 2017 at the Hilton London Bankside.
