The multi-million-pound refurbishment is being funded by the hotel’s owner and operator Cairn Group, and includes expanding the 114-room site to 170 rooms by mid-2017.
It will be the first Courtyard hotel in the UK, and the second in Europe, to be rebranded under the 2.1 Courtyard design.
New features will include a revamped restaurant and bar venue, The Bistro, serving Starbucks coffee and featuring three ‘media pods’ with curved seating and individual TVs.
The lobby area is being redesigned with a touchscreen ‘GoBoard’ where visitors can check airport arrival and departure times, and a ‘business centre’ with two computer terminals with free Wi-Fi.
General manager Matthew Hole, who joined the Cairn Group from Marriott in April, said: “The changes range from new stylish uniforms for our staff, to the transformation of our bedrooms and public spaces.
“There are over 1,000 Courtyard by Marriott branded hotels globally making it the most dominant brand within the Marriott portfolio and the eighth largest brand globally, which is now gaining momentum in the UK.”
Once rebranded the hotel will be the third Courtyard venue to open in the UK, joining airport sites at Aberdeen and Gatwick.
A fourth Courtyard is set to launch in Edinburgh in November 2016.
