Big Red Teapot to open fourth Edinburgh site

Edinburgh-based bar operator Big Red Teapot is to open a fourth bar and restaurant in the city's West End. 

The Voyage of Buck, inspired by the philanthropist, polo player and traveller William 'Buck' Clarence, will open next month on William Street. 

The 60-cover cocktail bar and restaurant, featuring Edwardian-inspired decor, will open from 10am daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner with brunches served at the weekend. Its menu will include small plates, large plates and 'sweet plates' designed for sharing. 

Cocktails, starting at £7.50 are inspired by Buck’s travels to Paris, Taipei, Cairo and Havana and will include Les Enfants Terrible - a mix of Tapatio Blanco, Calvados Pere Magloire, Amontillado sherry, lemon and bay leaf syrup and Anna May Wong, a combination of Tanqueray 10, Plum sake, Purple shizo, Cocchi di Torino and preserved lychee.                                                                                                            

Right time, right area

Big Red Teapot, co-owned by Colin Church and Martin Luney, already operates Hamilton's, The Blackbird and Treacle in Edinburgh. Luney said it was 'the right time to take on a new venture' in a new area of the city. 

He said: "It’s been four years since we opened our last bar, The Blackbird and with a total of three successful bars in the Big Red Teapot portfolio we wanted to bring our own brand of uniqueness to Edinburgh’s West End. We’ve been really keen to move into this area for a while and I think The Voyage of Buck has the potential to be a destination bar for the West End.”
