The site at 350 King’s Road, which closed in early August, is set to re-open on Wednesday 21 September, with refreshed décor from designers Sagrada ‒ who also revamped the D&D site Sartoria.
The new style has sought to pay homage to the building’s heritage as the first garage of the Bluebird Motor Company in the 1920s. The original steel frame has been revived with red accenting, and there are also custom-made velvet seats and leather-backed chairs designed by Celia Birtwell.
Alongside a curved metal bar, the bar stools are now bright red, and the dining room is surrounded with heavy drapes that can be arranged to create a more private atmosphere.
Smith-Liang, whose career has previously included time at Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s, Marcus Wareing at the Savoy Grill and Pétrus, and as head chef at D&D London’s Skylon, has created a new menu inspired by modern European cooking.
D&D London’s global portfolio includes a wide variety of restaurants and hotels, including Orrery, The Modern Pantry, Plateau, Quaglino’s, Cantina del Ponte, Coq D’Argent, The German Gymnasium, Angler, and Le Pont de la Tour in London, and Angelica in Leeds.
