Ikea to launch DIY pop-up restaurant in Shoreditch
From 10-25 September guests will be able to take over the entire space free of charge to host a private dinner party for up to 20 of their friends.
The restaurant, dubbed The Dining Club, will come equipped with its own sous chef and maître d' and can be booked for brunch, lunch or dinner.
DIY-restaurateurs will also be able to create their own menu and even name the venue after themselves.
Ellie Pniok, food manager at Ikea, said: "At Ikea we believe that the joy of cooking together is more than just creating food – it’s about building lasting memories, connecting and sharing. We are opening The Dining Club to bring people together to enjoy a meal from beginning to end."
The Swedish store will fit the bill for the food, drinks and chefs, and even take care of the cleaning up afterwards.
Dining Club guests can also book a spot in a ‘Food for Thought’ workshop area which will be hosting interactive masterclasses on topics including Swedish Baking, Sustainable Eating and The Future of Food with speakers such as Great British Bake Off winner Edd Kimber.
Ikea is the latest retailer to launch a pop-up restaurant after Tesco opened a Soho wine bar in August.
