The Duck Truck street food group has launched a permanent site serving only duck meat dishes in London Shoreditch’s Boxpark.

The Unit 52 Boxpark venture is the group’s first permanent site – or second, if you count its established Duck Truck Airstream van parked at Lamb Street in east London’s Spitalfields ‒ and is on the site of the former Sutton & Sons Fish and Chips.

Founded in 2012 as a street food van by former duck farm workers Ed Farrell and Vernon Blackmore, the concept serves options such as duck burgers, duck scotch egg, confit legs, ‘ducky noodly soupy’ soup, pulled duck, duck salad, duck fat chips, and duck spring rolls.

The company also offers catering from its roaming ‘duck truck’ van, for festivals, weddings, shows, parties, and other events.

It follows on the heels – or should that be webbed feet? ‒ of similar ventures nearby such as the Whyte & Brown restaurant group, which focuses on chicken and eggs; and the Strut & Cluck operation, which emphasises turkey dishes.

Farrell said: “I worked on a duck farm and fell in love with the duck. Duck is such a misunderstood meat in the UK and my mission is to put duck on everyone’s plate. The Duck Truck at Boxpark, Shoreditch is a great opportunity to move forward.”
