Slider Decider 2016 calls for entries ahead of Broadgate Circle move
From midday Saturday 10 September, shortlisted chefs will compete to create their own original sliders for the panel of tasting judges.
In previous years the contest has taken place at The Gun Docklands near Canary Wharf, but this year will move to the new self-described ‘dining hub’ of Broadgate Circle, near the City and Liverpool Street Station.
The judging panel will comprise Alexi Duggins, editor at large of Time Out magazine; Jamie Klingler, founder of National Burger Day and publishing manager of Shortlist magazine’s Mr Hyde; and Mike Gibson, associate editor of Foodism magazine.
All guests attending will also become judges, with each person receiving three 'Champion Slider' stickers to their favourite creations throughout the event. The most popular in this category will be named the 'People's Choice'.
The event will also see The Botanist bar and the Long Arm Brewing Co providing drinks and live music will also play.
Last year’s winner was Adam Rawson, then of Peruvian-style restaurant Pachamama, who won out over 14 other entries with his beef ‘Pan Con Chicharron’ creation, which included an aged beef patty, a demi brioche bun, pork belly chicharron, aji amarillo mayonnaise, mature cheddar and avocado.
Owen Sullivan from The Maze Grill came in second place, while Matt Tarantini from Source Battersea came in third place. There were also entries from top names such as Dirty Bones, Heddon Street Kitchen, Hixter Bankside, and Iberica.
