Former Nando's director to launch kebab restaurant BabaBoom

A former Nando’s director is to open a new charcoal kebab restaurant in London.

BabaBoom will serve up meats, salads and flatbreads in a modern setting when it launches on Battersea Rise later this month.

It is the brainchild of Eve Bugler, who has partnered with fellow Nando’s graduate Travis Fish – former regional managing director for the group – and ex Geronomo Inns food director Jono Jenkins to open the 42-cover debut site.

The trio have over 30 years of experience in the food industry and have created a menu combining 'the best of Middle Eastern spicing with quality British produce'.

“We’re not trying to be authentic – that would be disingenuous – what we want is to serve awesome plates of food that leave people happy, full and excited about eating more of our kebabs," the team said in a statement.

Dishes will include Dukkah Whitebait; Sweet Potato Tahini; Harissa Labneh; and Peach Melba with Homemade Tasted Pomegranate Boom!Mallows.

The team have also developed a £20 'feasting menu' inspired by a recent food-filled trip to Istanbul.

Diners can try four types of craft beer with their kebabs alongside a Bergamot frozen margarita developed by ex-Hawksmoor head barman Ali Reynolds.

The concept has the backing of former Nando’s chief executive David Niven, Wahaca’s Mark Selby, Eren Ali of Las Iguanas and Oakman Inns’ Peter Borg Neal.

BabaBoom will soft launch on 21-24 August at 30 Battersea Rise, SW11 1EE.
