Halifax-based restaurant group The Ricci Group is expanding its business into Leeds with the opening of Ricci's Tapas and Cicchetti and 53 Degrees North.

The company, which currently operates three sites in Halifax - Ricci's Place, Ricci's Tapas and Cicchetti and 53 Degrees North - will open the two new ventures side-by-side on Leeds' Infirmary Street on 11 July.

Like its Halifax counterpart, Ricci's Tapas and Cicchetti will serve a selection of small dishes created by co-founder Michael Ricci and executive chef Mark Kemp, such as Tempura of soft shell crab with harissa, Goats cheese churros with truffle honey and Poached hake in Estrella Galicia beer with cockles, asaparagus and nduja. It will also host a private dining and boardroom and a secret basement gin bar.

Neighbouring bar and late lounge 53 Degrees North will serve cocktails and beers and while showcasing artists and DJs from across the world.

The Ricci Group co-founder Michael Ricci said: “Leeds has such a vibrant, buzzing, social scene that is constantly evolving. The bars and eateries play a vital role in making Leeds the thriving city it has become – we want to be part of it.

"We are passionate about creating exceptional food and drink to create an unforgettable experience for everyone who visits Ricci’s Tapas & Cicchetti and 53 Degrees North. We want to bring something fresh and new to the table which will surprise and excite the people of Leeds and we will do just that.”

The Ricci Group was founded by Ricci and Olivia McGorlick who opened Mediterranean restaurant Ricci's Place in Halifax in 2011.
