Roomzzz plans first luxury London aparthotel in 2017

Aparthotel group Roomzzz has announced plans to open its first luxury London hotel in 2017.

The new-build Stratford site will feature 87 apartments within walking distance of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and create up to 20 new jobs.

Each unit will be designed in the style of a boutique hotel, but with fully equipped kitchens, large living areas and a grab-and-go cafe on-site.

It is the company’s first foray in to the booming London hotel market, following openings in Chester, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham.

Mark Walton, COO of Roomzzz Aparthotels, said: “As our first venture in London, the hotel’s opening is a major milestone for Roomzzz Aparthotels as a brand, raising our profile and appealing to a new audience.”

The aparthotels, which typically run at 90 per cent occupancy, are designed to attract high spending professional travellers whose average stay is 50 per cent longer than guests in traditional hotels.

Roomzzz’s fast growing development pipeline also includes openings in Manchester’s Corn Exchange (2016), Harrogate (2016), York (2017), and Liverpool (2017).

It follows the launch of the company’s £5.5m flagship 'New Generation' Chester site in 2015 and a major £2m refurbishment of five of its existing aparthotels.

According to a Savills report, the UK's serviced apartment sector is expected to double in size between 2015-17, with growth concentrated in London, Scotland and the Midlands.
