Happiness Forgets founder opens first restaurant Petit Pois
The 25-cover French bistro, which opened last week, serves a 'small menu of uncomplicated French classics' including Moules marinieres, Steak frites with sauce béarnaise, duck confit with onion puree and gratin dauphinoise and Chocolate mousse.
Wines have been selected by sommelier Chris Madden and a small cocktail menu has been created by Burgess.
Opening seven days a week from 9am to 10.30pm (closing on Sunday evenings) the bistro will also serve pastries and coffee by Assembly Roasters until 10am when a full breakfast menu, including Croque Madame and Eggs Benedict will be served.
The restaurant, designed by Original Sin designer Hannah Darby of Moxy and Co, aims to provide an accessible menu - a three course dinner costs approximately £30 per person with house wines starting at £22 a bottle.
Burgess, who decided to create the restaurant after meeting Le Cordon Bleu Paris-trained chef Smith last year and discovering a mutual love of classic French food, said: "We were tired of all the new restaurants in London being either super fine-dining, or gourmet fast food. We wanted to create somewhere that sat in the middle. People can come here with a reservation and enjoy great food, off real plates, at reasonable prices.
“We hope Petit Pois Bistro will do for restaurants what Happiness Forgets did for bars – make people really happy.”
Burgess opened Happiness Forgets in Hoxton Square in 2010 with Original Sin following in 2015.
