The hotel, once home to an order of silent nuns, will serve its £25 afternoon tea from midday to midnight on Saturday 25 June, following National Cream Tea Day on 24 June.
General manager Martin Page, whose hotel usually offers afternoon tea to guests seven days a week from 2pm, said: “We wanted to do something to mark National Cream Tea Day as our afternoon teas are extremely popular here.
“These days people enjoy breakfast all day long, so why not afternoon tea?"
Guests booking in for afternoon tea on the 25th will also be given a tour of the hotel, home to Benedictine nuns from 1838 to 2009. A hotel spokesperson said many bookings for the event had already been received, although late night reservations were still waiting to be filled.
Afternoon tea
Afternoon tea, previously the reserve of five star hotels, is increasingly becoming a way for restaurants and pubs to increase trade during different day parts.
Pub groups serving afternoon tea include Nicholsons and Moleface while restaurant groups doing the same include Bill's and the Ivy Collection.
To help venues promote their afternoon tea offerings ahead of another tea-themed event, Afternoon Tea Week (8-14 August), website afternoontea.co.uk is giving away free advertising to participating venues from 13 July.

Afternoontea.co.uk managing director Keith Newton said: "Afternoon Tea Week is a fantastic opportunity to generate additional business by creating a special afternoon tea menu, hosting an event, or offering a discount.”
“We had a tremendous response to Afternoon Tea Week last year, with activities running across the country and #afternoonteaweek trending at number 1 on Twitter!”.
