Carluccio’s unveils ‘new generation’ of restaurants

Carluccio’s is to launch a pizza menu at the first of its ‘new generation’ restaurants in Spitalfields, London.

Dubbed ‘Carluccio’s Deli & Dining’, the venue is part of a push to help the 112-strong restaurant group stand out from the crowd of Italian chains on the high street.

Four pizzas will be on the menu alongside new dishes such as Crab Macaroni; Duck Pappardelle; and Fresh Grilled Sicilian Prawns.

The new look restaurant features a more defined 'grab and go' food station and retail area, and is the first Carluccio’s to include an open plan kitchen where diners can watch the chefs in action.

Neil Wickers, CEO of Carluccio’s, said: “The premise is to emphasise and enhance those brand signatures that make Carluccio’s stand out from the crowd – its artisan suppliers, fresh dishes made on-site and unique combination of restaurant, food shop and deli.”

Ongoing growth

It comes after the group announced a rise in turnover of 7.4 per cent to £137.8m for the year ending September 2015, after it opened 14 new restaurants in the UK, Ireland and USA.

The firm has been breaking new ground in 2016, with the launch of its grab and go concept Via Carluccio’s in Tottenham Court Road in February, and its first hotel restaurant in the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park in May.

It opened its second US store in North Bethesda, Maryland in March and will launch a further ten UK stores by the end of the year.

Carluccio’s said elements from the new Spitalfields site will be gradually introduced across the group’s existing estate and incorporated in to new openings, depending on their size and location.
