Asian hotel operator Compass Hospitality Group has secured its first management contract in Scotland and its ninth in the UK.

The group, which last month signed an agreement to run Hawkwell House hotel in Oxford, has signed a 10 year agreement to run the 82-bedroom Columba Inverness hotel.

The hotel, owned by Singapore based Seacare hotel group, is in central Inverness and serves both the leisure and corporate market.

Since entering the UK in 2015, Compass Hospitality Group has rapidly grown its portfolio to nine hotels, predominantly with the help of funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Harmil Singh, president and CEO at Compass Hospitality, said: "We are gaining a strong foothold here in the UK as we strengthen our strategy of securing further management contracts and acquiring a number of reputable hotels that are evenly spread across the UK."

Matthew Welbourn, executive vice president of UK operations, Compass Hospitality, added:  “With The Royal Bank of Scotland’s continued investment, we are able to gain momentum into the UK hotel market. This is the third deal to complete this year with bank funding and this latest round of finance has allowed us to extend our name into Scotland, a market place we are excited about exploring further.

“We are making rapid progress in raising our profile as a full service operator and online management and partnering owners in the acquisition, funding and development of UK hotel assets.”

Compass Hospitality Group also operates 40 hotels in Thailand and Malaysia.
