North London-based restaurant and pub operator The Masseria Group is opening a second site under its Ostuni brand.

The 95-cover restaurant will open in Highgate Village in June where it will serve the same Puglian-focused menu as the original Ostuni in Queen's Park.

The Masseria Group founder and director Rob Claassen said the first Ostuni, which he opened in 2013 to provide an alternative to the 'typical Italian high street options', had been a success and could be replicated elsewhere.

"Obviously the success of Ostuni in Queen’s Park and how well it is has been received by the demographic in the area has encouraged us to find a new location in another of London’s ‘villages’," he said. "but it is also the fact that Masseria Groups vertical links with Puglian producers of cheeses, meats, vegetables and other products unique to Ostuni has afforded us a USP as a regional Italian restaurant.

"My Italian background and links with Puglia is also at the core of the desire to get Ostuni out there as a go to restaurant brand for the Italian restaurant experience.

"Dissatisfied and underwhelmed with the choice between the standard Italian restaurant chains and expensive Italian fine dining present on the London scene I see Ostuni as the perfect cross over of traditional family owner operated offer and themed concept restaurant serving real food with origins that London desperately needs."

Ostuni Hampstead Village will open for lunch and dinner seven days a week serving a 'laid back and non-pretentious menu' which includes pasta, lobster, wild seabass and aged beef. It also offers a mezze style antipasto Pugliese of seven dishes for £11.50 per person.

The Masseria Group also owns The Chamberlayne and The Salusbury gastropubs, Austen's Smokehouse BBQ and the Salusbury Wine Store and Foodstore.
