Gary Usher launches hunt for new Hispi bistro site
Chef Gary Usher is appealing for help after losing out on the site for his Kickstarter-backed Hispi bistro.

It follows a successful crowdfunding campaign which saw Usher raise over £58,000 to launch the restaurant​ in Chorlton, near Manchester.

But the chef took to Twitter to admit he had ‘hit a wall’ finding a new venue after the original site fell through.

Usher launched Sticky Walnut in Chester in 2011 and crowdfunded over £100,000 to open Burnt Truffle in Heswall last year.

Now he is asking his supporters to help find a new home for Hispi.

Usher wrote on Twitter: “I wouldn’t have crowdfunded Hispi if I even thought for a second the site we were raising dough for was gonna fall through.

“I’m defo not gonna let you down but the last few weeks have been proper shit with the Hispi search.

“You lot chose the name Burnt Truffle. You crowdfunded both restaurants. You sent menus and photos to decorate Burnt. Help me find Hispi.”

Hispi is set to serve 'neighbourhood bistro grub' similar to Usher's existing restaurants.

The chef said that while he ideally wanted to open in Chorlton he was open to suggestions from the broader South Manchester area.
