Pachamama team to open Peruvian restaurant Chicama in Chelsea

The team behind Marylebone’s Pachamama are to launch their second Peruvian restaurant Chicama in London this June.

It is the latest in a surge of Peruvian restaurants expanding in the capital, with Michelin-starred Lima opening an outpost at Harrods and Ceviche founder Martin Morales launching Casita Andina in Soho in July.

Opening on the King’s Road in Chelsea, the 72-cover venue will serve up modern Peruvian seafood for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch from Tuesday to Sunday.

Chef Erren Nathaniel will be heading up the kitchen, fresh from a stint at Peru’s Maido restaurant – which was named the 44th best restaurant in the world last year.

Chicama's dishes will revolve around the fish of the day, cooked on a robata grill and served with house sauces such as Fermented Sweet Potato Chilli and Lobster Oil Chimichurri.

The largely meat-free menu features Tuna Tiradito, Smoked Tamari Egg, Black Radish; Crispy Confit Seabass Rolls; and BBQ Baby Beets, Choclo, Japanese Pear Salad.

Drinks will include Peruvian-inspired cocktails alongside an ‘extensive’ selection of Pisco, Mezcal, Sake and Japanese Whisky.

A 16-cover private Chef’s Table will be available for private hire, while a 30-cover terrace will open for lunch, dinner and drinks.

Chicama is the second South American-style venue from the Creative Restaurant Group, which opened British-Peruvian restaurant Pachamama in London in 2014.
