Coeliac Awareness Week: Chef Phil Vickery to give gluten-free masterclass

Chef Phil Vickery will be giving top tips on how hospitality operators can better cater for customers following a gluten-free diet in a live-streamed masterclass on 12 May.

Running during Coeliac Awareness Week, the masterclass, run by KNORR, is free to view and is designed to show operators how easy gluten-free catering can be.

Vickery will give viewers top tips on setting up their kitchen to cater for gluten-free as well as share gluten-free recipe ideas.

KNORR marketing manager Leon Mills said: “While there’s been a widespread improvement on the gluten-free food available to eat out of home, 28 per cent of operators still don’t offer gluten-free menu items. It’s estimated that the catering industry is missing out on £100 million from people with coeliac disease and those they eat out with.

“As awareness of coeliac disease grows, it’s not an issue we can ignore. With all the attention on Coeliac UK Awareness Week, it’s the perfect time to discover just how simple gluten-free can be – and how it can boost sales.”

The masterclass, which will be available for a month after the event, can be viewed live from 3pm to 4pm on Thursday 12 May. Operators wishing to view it can sign up at http://knorrglutenfree.glocast.com
