Peter Gordon and Adam Wills' fusion restaurant Kopapa to close
The pair, who opened Kopapa in 2010, said they had made the decision to close the Monmouth Street restaurant to focus on other projects, such as their Crosstown Doughnuts business and after receiving a number of unsolicited bids from other operators for the site.
Wills said: "Kopapa is a great restaurant and we’re lucky to still enjoy commercial and critical success there but Crosstown has progressed quicker than anticipated and I’m enjoying dedicating time to its development. I’ll be sad to see Kopapa close, but it feels like the right time."
Crosstown Doughnuts, founded in 2014, opened its first store on Broadwick Street in Soho where last year after success at London markets and supplying retailers such as Selfridges. The company, which serves its doughnuts alongside artisan coffee, is planning to open more stores this year.
Gordon's restaurant The Providores and Tapa Room in Marylebone will continue to trade as normal following Kopapa's closure on 1 May.
