In his new role Gowili, who joined the five-star hotel in 2011 as front-of-house manager, will oversee all 136 bedrooms and suites, The Ritz Restaurant, The Palm Court, The Rivoli Bar and private dining rooms at William Kent House.
Previously at Red Carnation Hotels, Gowili has risen through the ranks at The Ritz in the last five years, moving up to rooms division manager before becoming hotel manager in 2013 where he was responsible for growing revenue and upholding high service levels.
Andrew Love, deputy chairman of The Ritz London said: "We are delighted to announce the promotion of Sal Gowili to general manager of The Ritz. Sal has demonstrated superb leadership, loyalty and commitment, focusing on excellence in all aspects of hotel operations, and we wish him every continued success in his new role”.
The London hotel, which celebrates its 110th anniversary this year, has been waiting to appoint a general manager since February when Boxall, who had been at the Ritz for almost 20 years, resigned from his position.
