Yorkshire Meatball Company extends crowdfunding campaign
The Yorkshire Meatball Company has extended its crowdfunding campaign by two weeks after receiving a ‘significant investment’ from a former customer.

The father and son-run restaurant group – which leads the fight against 'average, tasteless meatballs’ – was aiming to raise £100,000 to open two new venues by 27 March.

But the company has been granted permission to extend its campaign after a major investment took the funding drive over the £50,000 mark late last week.

The duo wrote on their Crowdcube page: “We were delighted to have received a significant investment from an individual who had visited Harrogate on holiday last year and who had eaten in our restaurant. This [is] indicative of the interesting conversations we are currently engaged in.

“As a result of the activity and interest being generated by our pitch, and considering we launched our campaign with no prearranged investment from friends or family, we are confident of closing further investment pledges in the coming days.”

Though the group did not disclose the amount it had received, the largest investment on its page stands at £10,000.

Yorkshire Meatball Company was founded by father and son team David and Gareth Atkinson in 2014, and currently runs two restaurants in Harrogate and York.

If its Crowdcube campaign is successful, the firm will open a third restaurant in Leeds.

It has yet to confirm the location of its planned fourth site.
