Two Michelin-starred, New York-based restaurant Aquavit plans to open a UK outpost in London.

Aquavit, which focuses on high end Nordic cuisine, is believed to have secured a unit at the St James’s Market development at 52 Haymarket, according to BigHospitality's sister publication MCA (previously M&C Allegra).

It is thought that the Salt Yard Group has also secured a unit at the property, which offers seven restaurant spaces.

As previously revealed by MCA, Aquavit will be joined at the development by the second UK Duck & Waffle.

Duck & Waffle owner Samba Brands is understood to have signed up a unit in the development, following the success of the first Duck & Waffle, which opened on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in Bishopsgate in 2012.

Samba Brands is also set to open a restaurant London’s Mayfair later this year, under the name Raw & BBQ. Samba Brands secured the site 11 Berkeley Street last year for the concept which will specialise in raw and barbeque cuisine.

Earlier this year, the company confirmed it will replace Brasserie Blanc at Covent Garden’s Opera Terrace. The new restaurant, on which Samba Brands is investing £4m to design and develop, will be the group’s second Sushisamba in the UK and will open early next year
