itsu debuts delivery app aimed at office workers

Geared towards friends and workmates, itsu [to you] allows groups to collaboratively build a single order and share dishes as well as track the location of their delivery driver on a map.

The meals on wheels service is currently only available in the following London postcodes; SW1, SW8, SE11, SE17 and parts of SE1, however there are plans to widen it out and include evening deliveries from mid-March.

“Everyone is time-poor in the 21st century, especially itsu customers, and often we’re too busy focussing on so much other stuff that food can take a back seat,” explained itsu’s former head of marketing Celeste Tobias-Metcalfe, who is leading the itsu [to you] start-up subsidiary under the itsu brand.

“That’s where food delivery comes in but too often that means unhealthy options. itsu [to you] sets out to change all that by making the whole process of ordering food not just healthy and quick but also fun and social.”

According to Tobias-Metcalfe, the app has ‘massive appeal’ for businesses wanting an inspiring team lunch that will prevent people feeling sluggish in the afternoon as well as ‘groups of friends wanting a break from the usual stodgy delivery options and having a good time while deciding what to share’. 

“Everything about itsu [to you] is designed with the customer at heart,” he added.

The app is powered by MyCheck’s mobile payment and loyalty platform; Google’s Firebase cloud software, and Bringg’s last-mile delivery technology. 

Elsewhere, itsu is continuing its expansion in the North of England with a new opening in Leeds.​ The 144 cover restaurant will open on the city’s Commercial Street on 16 March.

The brainchild of Pret a Manger co-founder Julian Metcalfe, itsu has over 60 sites in London and opened its first Manchester venue earlier this year.
