The coffee chain’s London-based food-led store has teamed up with luxury brand Charlie Bigham’s and handmade pudding-maker Cartmel to create fresh meals that are baked on site as well as desserts heated for customers on purchase.
Macaroni Cheese, Fish Pie and Lasagne (£6.50 per portion) are among the new hot options to join the existing offer of handcrafted ciabattas, pastries, and fresh soups.
Sweet treats including Sticky Toffee Pudding and Sticky Chocolate Pudding (£2.45) have also been introduced.
“We’re proud to be working with Charlie Bigham’s and Cartmel to expand our menu,” Carol Welch, Costa global brand and innovation director said. “We know that our customers want quality food with their coffee, and we’re confident the addition of these delicious products to our menu will give them yet more choice and expand our hot food offer.”
Last February rival Starbucks moved to boost its evening trade by serving hot and cold meals along with beer and wine from 4pm at selected stores.
The Starbucks Evening programme launched at the coffee chain’s Stanstead Airport site serving Truffle Mac & Cheese and Braised British Beef Chorizo.
Costa Fresco, which opened in last December in Tottenham Court Road, is Costa’s first food-led establishment.
