Forbes Travel Guide 2016: The Goring and Coworth Park receive five-stars

London's The Goring hotel and Coworth Park in Ascot have been awarded five-stars for the first time in the Forbes Travel Guide 2016.

The US-based guide has unveiled its 58th list of worldwide star ratings, including 42 new five-star hotels, 101 new four-star hotels and 57 recommended properties.

Coworth Park is the only UK hotel with its own polo grounds and the first outside of London to receive the five-star rating.

It joins the Dorchester, Claridge’s, Four Seasons London at Park Lane, 45 Park Lane, the Connaught, the Lanesborough and the Savoy in achieving the top ranking.

The Goring received five-stars after closing for refurbishment for the first time in its 104-year history last year.

Ten UK hotels joined the four-star category, including Hotel 41, Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and the Shangri-La Hotel At The Shard, London.

The historic Cliveden House in Berkshire and The London Edition were new entrants in the ‘Recommended Hotels’ list.

"These properties set an unimpeachable standard of excellence in hospitality at a moment when the proliferation of voices claiming to provide unbiased ratings online is exploding,” said Gerard J. Inzerillo, chief executive officer of Forbes Travel Guide.

“With Forbes Travel Guide-rated properties, there is no ambiguity, no doubt: based on a stringent set of standards developed and refined over six decades, our ratings are now accepted and embraced worldwide.”
