SRA unveils People's Favourite restaurant shortlist

East Sussex restaurant The Gallivant and Lussmans Fish & Grill in Hertfordshire have been named among the five shortlisted restaurants in line for this year's Sustainable Restaurant Association's (SRA) People's Favourite award.

The shortlist, which also includes Cafe in the Park in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, Gillams Tea Room in Ulverston, Cumbria and Yeo Valley HQ Canteen in Blagdon, Somerset, was chosen by judges from 600 nominations submitted to the SRA.

Members of the public are now being asked to vote for the shortlisted restaurant they feel makes a major difference to the community and does all it can to reduce its impact on the environment at www.foodmadegood.org/peoplesfave16 or by tweeting using the hashtag #fave and the name of their chosen restaurant.

The award, part of the SRA's Food Made Good Awards, will be given to the restaurant attracting the most votes.

SRA managing director Mark Linehan said: “The People’s Favourite is the public’s chance to nominate and then vote for truly inspiring restaurants that serve up fabulous food and nourish their customers and community in every way. The public interest in this award reflects the ever increasing importance diners place on values and the story behind their food. Now’s the time for everyone who’s passionate about their food and its provenance to shine a light on the very best in the business by voting for the People’s Favourite.”

Voting is open until Sunday 13 March with the winner revealed in the Independent on Sunday on 20 March and presented with the award at the Food Made Good Awards by Raymond Blanc OBE on Tuesday 22 March.

The Food Made Good Awards is the new name for the SRA's annual awards, now in their fifth year. The new name for the awards, sponsored by Nestlé Professional, was made following last year's launch of the the SRA's new consumer brand.
