The actor, best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the hit films, opened the £150 a night Rigsby’s Guest House in Hertford in April of 2011.
The hotel won an episode of the Channel 4 show Four in a Bed in 2013 and was named best value for money by other B&B owners.
It has been popular with guests as well as on television, with a five-star rating on TripAdvisor with only ‘Excellent’ and ‘Very Good’ rankings.
Several reviews described the hotel as 'beautiful', 'charming' and 'the best B&B'.
But it has been forced to close after ‘not making enough money’ with the £2014 reportedly the first profit it had made in four years, according to The Mirror.
Hotel manager Morris Cockman posted a message confirming the closure on the hotel’s Facebook page.
He said: “I would like to thank everybody for your support over the years.”
The Grade II listed property was bought outright by Grint’s parents Nigel and Joanne for £875,000 in 2003. Nigel is the director of Rigsby’s Guest House Limited but Rupert, 27, is its only shareholder.
Rigsby’s Piano Café, a restaurant that remains open behind the former hotel, is under the same arrangement.
The family are reportedly considering converting the hotel, which dates back to 1750, in to flats.
