London restaurant Moti Mahal to close

The restaurant in Covent Garden, which is overseen by head chef Anirudh Arora, will hold its last service on 14 February. 

Reasons for closure of the restaurant by owner Shanti Hospitality, would not be given and it is not known whether the site on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden will remain a restaurant following Moti Mahal's closure. 

In a statement, the owners said: "The restaurant's innovative dining experience for over a decade, has taken Indian food lovers' taste buds on a journey across the sub-continent’s most significant and oldest road, The Grand Trunk Road.

"Spearheaded by the talented Delhi-born Head Chef Anirudh Arora, Moti Mahal will best be remembered for serving authentic recipes that have lived in family kitchens for countless generations, all inspired by local villagers and vendors.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal patrons for their continued support over the past 10 years."

Moti Mahal London is part of Shanti Hospitality, which owns a number of hotels around the world, including Nira Caledonia in Edinburgh. It also owns South African street food restaurant brand Bunnychow, which has a site in Wardour Street, London.
