Second London Sushisamba to open in Covent Garden

Samba Brands Management, the owner of Sushisamba and Duck & Waffle, has announced plans to open a second London Sushisamba restaurant - in Covent Garden.

The restaurant will open on the Opera Terrace within Covent Garden Market's Grade II listed building at the end of next year and is part of Samba Brands Management expansion plans for the capital.

The company, which operates six restaurants in New York, Miami, and Las Vegas and London, plans to give the 9,000 sq ft site a 'bold and contemporary' renovation with the existing conservatory replaced with a new Eric Parry glazed design.

Shimon Bokovza, managing partner and CEO of Samba Brands Management, said: “The energy of Covent Garden and its international appeal make it a natural fit for Sushisamba's second London location.  We look forward to unveiling our cutting-edge plans and are honoured to join the growing list of pedigree brands that make up Covent Garden’s iconic estate.”

'World class dining'

Sushisamba Covent Garden will join the likes of LIMA Floral, The Ivy Market Grill, Balthazar and Shake Shack as well as the soon-to-open Frenchie and Mariage Freres within Covent Garden Market.

Sarah-Jane Curtis, director of Capital & Counties Properties PLC (Capco) Covent Garden, the management company for the Covent Garden estate, said: "Our strategy at Covent Garden is focused on providing a world-class retail and dining environment for our visitors.

"Covent Garden’s Opera Terrace is a premier location and a prominent dining pitch in London; we are delighted that Sushisamba will bring its creative blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine to the estate.”

Samba Brands Management, which also owns Sugarcane raw bar grill and Bocce in Miami, Sushisamba opened its first site in London in 2012 at Heron Tower near Liverpool Street, with Duck & Waffle following soon after.
