Catering partner and restaurant operators sought for The Piece Hall Halifax

The trust responsible for restoring and transforming The Piece Hall in Halifax is searching for a catering partner to manage its restaurant, bar and conference facilities.

The historical building in central Halifax, once home to the world's wool trade, is currently undergoing a £19.2m transformation to turn it into a 'world class retail, heritage and cultural destination'.

As part of its plans the venue needs a catering partner to run the 150-cover restaurant and 50-cover piazza, bar and conferencing facilities. Prospective catering partners also will have the opportunity to provide catering for up to 7,500 capacity audiences for a year-round major events programme, as well as for smaller public and private events and conferences, said the trust.

The centre, due to reopen this summer, is also offering sites to 20 independent retailers and 20 SMEs from the creative industries.

Sam Mason, chief executive of the Piece Hall Trust, said: "The Piece Hall is about to take its place once again at the beating heart of Halifax and Calderdale. We are working together with our partners and stakeholders to make sure that this - one of the most significant refurbishment programmes in the UK - is a fantastic addition to the town and a significant attraction for the North of England.

"The Piece Hall has over 300 years of incredible history and the next chapter promises to be the most exciting in a generation. We want ambitious young, local, tried and tested, as well as new businesses to join us in making it happen.”

The catering contract will be commissioned through a tendering process. Interested parties should email Monica Vaughan monica.vaughan@cy-associates.com for information, including floor plans by 31 January. The deadline for tenders is 19 February 2016.
