Glynn Purnell is to star in Come Dine with Me Champion of Champions, it has been announced.

The Michelin-starred chef will join Come Dine with Me voice, Dave Lamb, as a judge on the Channel 4 show.

Airing on Friday evenings, each episode of the show will see three past winners return to take on three culinary challenges each day. The winner of each round will go through to the next where they will face a ‘greater challenge’ as they battle to be crowned Champion. Contestants will also face judgement from their former contestants.

Known as the ‘Yummy Brummie’, Purnell won Birmingham’s first Michelin star in January 2005 when he was head chef at Jessica’s, before earning his own star at Purnell’s in 2009.

He has taken part in the BBC’s The Great British Menu, winning it twice before appearing as a mentor. He has also been on The Great British Food Revival, Pies and Puds, and Food and Drink. He is a regular guest on Saturday Kitchen and has also appeared on Extra Slice.
